OnePlus 5 Trusted Review

OnePlus 5 Trusted Review

With OnePlus 3 and 3T in the market, you’d expect OnePlus 4 to be the next in the series to be offered. BUT NO… the manufacturer seems be suffering from Tetra phobia — the fear of using the number 4.

Therefore, OnePlus 5 arrived with a refined metal design and software that delivers a more fluid user experience. It is also more expensive than ever, but it’s a worthy contender for the cell phone of the year.

The front look is not that different from OnePlus 3 and 3T with slightly rounded corners and it reminds us of slightly curvier matte-black iPhone 7 Plus with blended antenna lines and a flash.

The front of the device is much the same as those of the outgoing OnePlus 3 and 3T. Some may call it ‘old-fashioned’ but OnePlus has managed to make this phone more ergonomic and it feels really nice in the hand.

The OnePlus 5 has 5.5-inch display, which looks bigger than the 5.8-inch Samsung Galaxy S8. However, it’s smaller in all dimensions than the iPhone 7 Plus which has the same screen size, and you can reach all the elements of the phone by using one hand. It has either 6 or 8 GB of RAM, and either 64 or 128 GB of storage.

Bluetooth 5.0 and Finger Sensor

The OnePlus 5 is the second smartphone in 2017 to have the version of Bluetooth 5.0, rather than a 4.0 or 4.1. Therefore, Bluetooth performance is better than most any other cell phone and it incorporates the easy use of wireless earbuds, which match the Galaxy S8 in maintaining a consistent, interruption-free connection. It also comes with impressive finger sensor that makes unlocking the phone quick and easy.

Oxygen Operating System

OnePlus 5 runs on a custom version of Android 7.1.1 called Oxygen OS. The 7.1.1 version of Android was introduced in December 2016, and included features like a new set of emoji, the option to send GIFs, and small tweaks for extra functionality. Oxygen OS is a slightly refined version of the standard Android look generally adding to a great user experience. The alert slider that sets different sound and do not disturb modes, and a new reading mode that makes reading books and other texts easier on the eyes. Camera- Two rear shooters

OnePlus 5 has the first dual-camera setup on the back with two rear shooters. The phone has a standard 16-megapixel shooter and a secondary 20-megapixel telephoto lens rather than two cameras for wide-angle or monochrome purposes, like in the Apple’s dual-camera setup on the iPhone 7 Plus. OnePlus 5 takes excellent low-light pictures that are even sharper than than the pricier Google Pixel.

While the camera is in fierce competition with the rivals, we cannot ignore it is offering features at hundreds of dollars less than the others.
